The shop owners in the Fati Lami Abubakar Creation Centre, Ezza Road, Abakaliki have been urged to exhibit an ownership spirit in the handling and management of government facilities.

The Special Assistant to the Governor of Ebonyi State on Culture and Tourism, Hon Stanley Kamani gave the charge Friday in the International Conference Centre, Abakaliki, when he held the first inaugural meeting with all the shop owners in the Centre, under the supervision of Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The governor’s aide who decried complaints of squalor and filthiness said to be reported among handlers of public utilities, urged them not to exhibit the same in the facilities.

He said the People’s Charter of Needs cannot be executed while a few ungrateful elements continue to sabotage the efforts of the government.

“Henceforth, anyone found littering this place, will be sanctioned.
” It’s a pity some people rarely see government facilities as theirs. This lackadaisical attitude must stop henceforth.
“Bag your waste, and bring it to approved government’s waste points, don’t burn it.
“Government cannot do everything for us. If your premises are overgrown with weeds, get it cleared.
“Do basic maintenance in this place. If others allow theirs to lie in ruins, we cannot allow that here.
“That toilet must be cleared immediately. And the blocked pathways cleared.
“Ensure this place is guarded jealously.”

Responding, the General Manager of the Conference Centre, Mr Paul Ugo, commended the Governor’s aide for the meeting, assuring all resolutions would be implemented.
